I shared that I’ve been trialing for an internal role switch to WordPress VIP in my last post – I’m happy to share that I made it! I start with them as an Enterprise Platform Support Engineer on June 17, 2024.
The first few weeks will primarily be focused on on-boarding and getting a hang of how things work when you’re talking to customers who are paying for your services in 5 digits, if not 6. I’m slightly anxious, but also super excited because I know I’ll have an excellent team I can rely on for support as I get started.
I’m going to miss my current team and my current teammates so much, though! They’re all such kind, helpful folks – it’s going to suck a little bit to not talk to them in some capacity almost every day. Luckily, I was allowed to attend our upcoming team meetup with my current team, so that’d give me another week of interacting with some of my favorite people in the company so far, many of whom ended up becoming close friends!
Design refresh!
You’d also notice this site’s look has changed completely, once again. I really like redoing the site every now and then – it helps me get closer to our products and test things out, while also making sure the site doesn’t look super outdated.
I also realised it’s a lot of work to maintain a custom theme, something my previous site was using. It takes a lot of effort, and things break occasionally that might go unnoticed. The state of Block Based themes for WordPress is pretty good now, with a lot of really cool free options available! I chose an existing theme (more on this on my site’s home page) and customized it to my needs – I’m very happy with the result!
