This is an interesting prompt! To answer the question, yes, I love my job – perhaps a little too much 🙂
What appeals to me about my role is the impact of working on a product that is used by millions of folks in the world and I feel extremely satisfied every time I help a user figure something out on their WordPress.com site, no matter whether it’s a small issue that got fixed right away or if it required a couple days of debugging.
Apart from that, the work culture at Automattic is excellent to say the least. You get unlimited vacation days, you can work from anywhere in the world, the pay is nice & the people are extremely smart and kind – this list of benefits isn’t exhaustive, and there are so many more! You’re never going to be “dinged” for asking a question at Automattic, and I think that really speaks volumes of the kind of culture we’ve managed to build. At least two times an year, you’d also be traveling to beautiful places throughout the world to meet your teammates and colleagues that aren’t a part of your immediate team – these 2/3 weeks are some of the most fun weeks for me personally, and I’m looking forward to the next meetup that’s happening Langkawi for my team in June later this year!
There’s an abundance of articles that talk about the hiring process, the job itself and a lot more so I won’t necessarily dive deeper into those but if you’ve got any particular questions about what’s it like working here, I’m all ears!
